Where does the tow vehicle go at Circuit of The Americas?

COTA states that "Only one (1) tow vehicle is permitted per space" and that "Any tow/support vehicle must be parked within your designated RV space." Its published F1 sites are approximately 50 by 24 feet for Premium and 40 by 24 feet for Lot N dry camping.

What to do about it

Measure the coach and anything behind it as one number and check it against the site you hold, not against the coach alone. A 32-foot Class C plus a 13-foot towed car is 45 feet, which does not fit Lot N.

What it costs if you don't

Parking in a drive lane or fire lane instead "is strictly prohibited and could result in tow, fines, or future restrictions to camping," and there is no overflow area to fall back on.

Does COTA require insurance on a rented RV?

COTA states that "RVs operating on the COTA Property must have liability insurance coverage. Proof of insurance must be made available when requested by COTA or its authorized agents."

What to do about it

Request evidence of liability coverage from whoever supplies the unit before you travel, and carry it. On a rented coach that document sits with the rental company and is not issued as a matter of course.

What it costs if you don't

It cannot be produced at a gate in Austin at 7am. This is the only venue in our research that publishes an insurance requirement, so it is also the one people have never been asked for before.

Can you run a generator overnight at COTA?

COTA enforces Quiet Hours from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM and states that "External generators are not permitted during Quiet Hours." It separately requires that "Vehicle and generator exhaust must be expelled away from other campsites." Lot N has no hookups.

What to do about it

If overnight power matters and you are in Lot N, put the question to COTA for your specific unit rather than reading the word "external" generously. Mobile services are priced: pump-outs at $55 and freshwater fill at $60.

What it costs if you don't

A dry site with a misread generator rule is a night without air conditioning in Texas in October, and no hookup to fall back on.
