Camp EDC Requires a 75-Foot Power Cable, and Will Not Refund You Without One

The cord is the one that costs money

EDC requires, in its own words, that your RV is "equipped with a power cable totaling 75 feet in length, if you purchased power. A TT-30P connector is required for 30-amp cables, while 50-amp cables will require a 14-50P connector." It then closes both escape routes in consecutive sentences: "Power cords will not be available in the campground. If you do not bring the proper power cord, you risk not being able to plug into our power grid. Refunds for unused power purchases will not be granted."

Rental coaches almost universally ship with an attached shore cord of roughly 25 to 30 feet. Seventy-five feet is not a longer version of what comes with the unit, it is an extension you have to source separately, with a specific connector matching the amperage you bought.

Confirm two things with the rental company in writing before you travel: the coach's native shore connector, and whether they will supply a 45 to 50 foot extension with the matching plug. Do not assume the coach's inlet type from the amperage you bought.

Forty-five feet includes the car behind you

EDC states: "You may not exceed the total permitted length of 45 feet, including tow vehicle if applicable. Tow vehicles must remain attached to pull-trailer at all times." The measurement is the combination, and detaching to duck under the limit is not an option because the tow has to stay hooked up.

Run the arithmetic on the real numbers. A 32-foot Class C towing a 13-foot car is exactly at the cap with nothing spare. A 35-foot Class A with any tow at all is over it. If you need a second vehicle at the festival, the alternative route is an additional vehicle pass for the Turquoise Lot, purchased at checkout, and EDC is explicit that "Additional vehicles will not be allowed to enter the RV Camping area."

Your group gets split by its power choice, not by arrival alone

This is the rule that quietly separates groups, and almost nobody reads it before booking. EDC states that "the RV campground will be divided into areas based on power type: dry camping (no power option), 30-amp, or 50-amp," and separately that "RVs with a Power Add-On will be placed in a different section of the campgrounds from RVs without a Power Add-On."

Layer the arrival rule on top: "Multiple RVs wishing to be placed next to each other must arrive at the same time. If you don't arrive and check-in together, you won't be able to camp next to each other. There are no saving spots."

Why the air conditioning is a rule and not a comfort

EDC requires that the RV has "a working air conditioner powered by a built-in, non-engine-driven generator," and bans external gas generators outright. Read that against the festival hours, which EDC lists as 7:00pm to 5:30am.

You are at the festival all night and asleep in the coach through the middle of a May day at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The air conditioner is not there to make the trip nicer, it is the thing that makes daytime sleep survivable, and the festival has made it an inspection item rather than a recommendation. Confirm with the rental company that the onboard generator runs the roof air, because a unit that only cools on shore power will not satisfy a rule written around a built-in generator.

What most people get wrong: the 2pm check-in cliff

Camp EDC check-in for weekend one runs Thursday May 14 from 9:00am to 2:00am, and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to only 2:00pm. EDC notes for each of those days that "festival traffic begins arriving at 2pm so wait times could be longer," and warns: "If you arrive late, we may not be able to admit you into the campground until check-in opens the following day."

Thursday is the generous day, with a window running to 2:00am. Every day after that closes at 2:00pm. A Friday flight that lands at midday does not get you checked in, and the consequence is not a queue, it is a night somewhere else and a Saturday morning restart. The campground itself runs Thursday 9am to Monday May 18 at 5pm, and EDC requires all campers fully packed and vacated by that time.

Two smaller rules that change what you pack

Staking anything into the ground is not permitted, so every piece of shade you bring has to be free-standing and weighted. Awning pegs, canopy stakes and guy lines are all out, which in an exposed speedway lot is a genuine planning problem rather than a detail.

Cooking is allowed but tightly bounded. EDC welcomes "small, portable propane grills/stoves (with small tanks, up to 4 lbs per group)" and states that "Campfires and butane torches are NOT allowed." Four pounds per group is roughly four one-pound canisters for the entire party, not per person, and it is nothing like the 20-pound bottle an RV grill usually runs on. The coach's own built-in propane system is a separate matter from what you may carry as portable tanks.

The pass arithmetic actually favours filling the coach

One useful thing in your favour: EDC states that "Only ONE (1) Camp EDC Pass is needed per RV (for up to 8 people, not to exceed the maximum legal capacity of your RV). No need for each camper to buy an individual camping pass." Camping wristbands are issued up to the vehicle's specified sleeping capacity, capped at 8 per site.

So the camping cost per head falls steeply as you fill the unit, and a second RV booked for overflow buys a second camping pass you may not need. What does not scale is admission: "Camp EDC passes DO NOT include festival passes," and every camper needs their own wristband to enter the campground at all. Size the coach to the group's legal sleeping capacity first, then buy eight festival passes rather than two camping passes.

Book it in this order

1. Pick the weekend. EDC Las Vegas 2027 is May 14–16 and May 21–23.
2. Agree the power option across the whole group, since it determines which section you are placed in.
3. Order the power add-on at checkout. EDC states it must be ordered in advance.
4. Confirm the coach has a built-in, non-engine-driven generator that runs the roof air conditioner.
5. Measure coach plus tow against 45 feet, or buy a Turquoise Lot pass for the extra vehicle instead.
6. Source a 75-foot total cable with the TT-30P or 14-50P connector matching your amperage. Confirm the coach's inlet.
7. Buy one camping pass per RV and a festival pass for every single person.
8. Plan arrival for Thursday. Every later day closes check-in at 2:00pm.
9. Pack free-standing shade and no more than 4 lbs of portable propane for the group.
