MetLife will not let an RV use a lined parking space

MetLife Stadium states that "Tents or canopies exceeding an 8' x 8' footprint and vehicles measuring more than 18' in length and/or 8' in width are not permitted to park in a lined parking space." Eighteen feet and eight feet are low thresholds; essentially every motorhome exceeds both.

What to do about it

Plan on curb positioning rather than a marked bay, and size any canopy to 8 by 8 feet. MetLife directs that "Trucks, trailers and other oversized vehicles (not including buses) will be directed to park along the curbs in the parking lots so they do not take up additional lined parking spaces."

What it costs if you don't

An activation designed around a coach in a lined bay with a large canopy beside it does not fit the published rule, and the footprint has to be redesigned on site rather than in advance.

Where oversized vehicles cannot go at the Meadowlands

MetLife Stadium states that "Trucks, trailers, buses and other oversized vehicles are not permitted to park in the enclosed parking deck at American Dream," and that "Charter bus parking is located in Parking Lot L." Limousines, black car services and buses "are not permitted to occupy lined parking spaces unless they are single-spaced in size." Parking fees for oversized vehicles were not published on the pages we read.

What to do about it

Route oversized vehicles away from the American Dream deck entirely, and send charter buses to Lot L. Carry the parking cost as an open line and confirm it with the stadium, since it is not published.

What it costs if you don't

A driver following a satnav into an enclosed deck with a coach discovers the restriction at the height barrier, which is the worst possible place to find out.
